Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Gabon eVisa at the official government portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to present at immigration.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your Australian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Gabon. Immigration at Libreville International Airport checks this strictly — airlines also enforce it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready. Airlines may refuse boarding without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Gabon. Immigration may ask where you're staying — having proof avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you can cover your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but it's better to have evidence ready if questioned.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate is mandatory
Gabon requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (which can be expensive and time-consuming).
eVisa must be printed
A digital copy on your phone is not enough. Print a paper copy of your eVisa approval to show at check-in and immigration. Some airlines won't let you board without it.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Gabon eVisa portal (evisa.dgdi.ga). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa approval
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Check-in at the airport
At the airline counter, show your passport and printed eVisa. The agent will verify your onward ticket and passport validity before issuing your boarding pass.
4
Arrival at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Have your accommodation address ready in case they ask.
