Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply for Guinea eVisa
You need an eVisa to enter Guinea. Apply online at the official Guinea eVisa portal before you travel. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week ahead.Required
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your Australian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Guinea. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Conakry Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready. Without one, you may be refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Guinea. Officers sometimes ask for this at the border, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient funds for stay
Have evidence of enough money to cover your stay — around 500,000 GNF (approx. $55 USD) per day. A recent bank statement or a credit card with available limit works.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) upon arrival. Without it, you may be refused entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport at your own expense. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa is the only option
There are no visas on arrival for Australians. Do not attempt to travel without an approved eVisa — you will be denied boarding by your airline.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Guinea eVisa portal (no third-party sites). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $80–$100 USD) by credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Print your eVisa and pack your documents
Print a paper copy of the eVisa email. Also print your flight itinerary and hotel booking. Save digital copies on your phone as backup. Keep everything together in a folder.
3
Arrive at Conakry International Airport (CKY)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Arrivals'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check — declare any large amounts of cash or expensive electronics. Then walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare.
