German passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cameroon. The eVisa covers tourism and business visits, and you must apply online before you travel. Since 2026, the eVisa is the only option for short stays — there is no visa on arrival.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Required before travel
Apply for a Cameroon eVisa at the official portal before departure. The eVisa is valid for tourism and business visits. Processing takes up to 72 hours, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your German passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cameroon. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Cameroonian law, but airlines may enforce 6 months validity — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yaoundé and Douala airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cameroon. Not always checked, but having it ready avoids delays at immigration.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Bank statements or a credit card showing sufficient funds for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but you may need to show you can support yourself if questioned.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate is mandatory
You must carry your yellow fever vaccination card (the 'yellow card') when entering Cameroon. Immigration officers will ask for it. If you don't have one, you may be vaccinated on the spot or denied entry.
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Cameroon (even to a neighbouring country), you'll need a new eVisa to return. Plan your itinerary accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill in the application form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but can be faster.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
You'll get an approval email with a PDF attachment. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Cameroon.
3
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
Most international flights arrive at Yaoundé Nsimalen or Douala International. After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Have your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in — typically for up to 90 days.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no customs declaration for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
