Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Belarusian law, but some airlines may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Immigration officers at Minsk National Airport routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they may also check that your onward travel is within the 30-day visa-free limit.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officials may request proof of where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation from a Belarusian host works. Keep a printed copy in your carry-on.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your trip. The official guideline is roughly €50 per day. A recent bank statement or a credit card with available limit usually satisfies the officer.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Border officers check this carefully. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding or entry.
Visa-free entry is for short stays only
The 30-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a visa at a Belarusian embassy before traveling.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before leaving, gather your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket confirmation, first night accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Save digital copies on your phone.
2
Arrive at Minsk National Airport (MSQ)
Most French travelers fly into Minsk National Airport. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' for non-EAEU citizens. Separate queues exist for Belarusian and foreign passports.
3
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation booking. Answer clearly — they speak some English, but Russian or Belarusian helps. They will stamp your passport with a visa-free entry stamp valid for up to 30 days.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Use the green channel if you have nothing to declare. You are free to enter Belarus.
