French passport holders can enter Kyrgyzstan without a visa for stays up to 60 days. This policy has been in place since 2012 and continues through 2026. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the entire time you plan to stay in Kyrgyzstan. Unlike some countries, Kyrgyzstan does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date — just enough to cover your visit. Airlines may still ask for 6 months, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kyrgyzstan
Immigration officers at Manas International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready. This applies even if you plan to exit overland — a bus or train ticket works too.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital hotel reservation for your first few nights. If staying with friends, have their address and phone number written down. Border officers rarely ask, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers may ask how you'll fund your trip. Have a bank statement or credit card ready showing access to at least $50 USD per day. In practice, this is almost never checked for French passport holders, but better safe than stuck at the counter.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Kyrgyzstan, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be turned away at the border.
Visa-free for 60 days
French passport holders can stay up to 60 days without a visa. This is generous — many nationalities only get 30 days. No need to apply for anything in advance.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Manas International Airport (Bishkek)
Most French travellers fly into Bishkek. After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' for foreign nationals. There are separate queues for Kyrgyz citizens and foreigners.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport (open to the photo page) and your boarding pass. The officer will check your passport validity, scan it, and ask a few questions — usually 'How long are you staying?' and 'Where are you staying?' Answer clearly.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (60 days). Check the stamp before walking away — make sure the dates are correct.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over $10,000 or restricted items.

For stays under 60 days, no registration is required. If you stay longer than 60 days (with a visa), you must register with the State Registration Service within 5 business days.
