French passport holders can enter Morocco without a visa for tourism or business stays up to 90 days. As of 2026, you just arrive at any Moroccan airport or land border and get a free entry stamp. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
6-month validity required
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of entry. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Overstaying your visa-free period costs 100 MAD per day (about $10 USD), paid at the airport before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended
Immigration officers at Casablanca and Marrakech airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without one, you risk being questioned or denied entry.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Hotel bookings or a letter of invitation from a host in Morocco can speed up immigration. Officers occasionally ask where you are staying — having a reservation confirmation on your phone avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry a credit card or cash equivalent to at least 500 MAD per day of your stay. Immigration rarely checks, but if asked, showing a bank statement or card with available credit satisfies the requirement.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Morocco, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you go.
No visa, no fee
French passport holders enter Morocco visa-free with no application or fee. Just arrive with a valid passport and you'll get a free entry stamp at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you travel, ensure your passport has at least 6 months validity and at least one blank page. Print or save digital copies of your return ticket, first night accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Download an eSIM or note where to buy a local SIM at the airport.
2
Arrive at the airport or border
At Casablanca, Marrakech, or any other Moroccan airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (Passeport). For land borders from Ceuta or Melilla, go to the immigration booth. Have your passport and return ticket ready.
3
Present your passport and answer questions
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: 'How long are you staying?' (answer honestly, up to 90 days), 'Where are you staying?' (have hotel name or address), 'Do you have a return ticket?' (show it). No visa fee is charged.
4
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date and the number of days allowed (usually 90). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If you need more time, ask before they finish — extensions are possible later at a police station.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Declare any items over 2000 MAD value. Exit into the arrivals hall where you can buy a local SIM, exchange money, or arrange transport.
