Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Apply online or get at airport
You can get a visa on arrival at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville airports — $30 USD in cash, passport photo required. Or apply online at evisa.gov.kh for $30 USD, processed in 3 business days. The eVisa lets you skip the cash line.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cambodia. No 6-month rule applies — just cover your travel dates. Airlines may still check for 6 months validity, so carry a printout of Cambodia's official policy if needed.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration may ask for proof
Immigration officers at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket within your visa validity. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they rarely check the date, just that you have one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration rarely asks for a hotel booking, but airlines sometimes check before boarding. Have a printed confirmation or a digital copy on your phone — a simple booking.com reservation works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card for expenses
Immigration does not formally ask for proof of funds, but carry at least $300 USD in cash or a card with available credit. Cambodia is a cash-heavy economy — ATMs charge $4–$5 per withdrawal.Recommended
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa on arrival counter only takes US dollars in cash. Bring small bills ($1, $5, $10, $20). $100 notes are often rejected or given poor change. ATMs are available after immigration but charge high fees.
Photo tip
If you forget a photo, the airport booth charges about $3. But the queue can be slow. Bring your own to save time.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out the arrival form
On the plane or at the land border, you'll get a Cambodia arrival/departure card and a visa application form. Fill both out in capital letters. Have your passport and photo ready.
2
Queue at the Visa on Arrival counter
At Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airports, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' before immigration. Hand over your passport, completed form, photo, and $30/$35 cash. The officer will process it — usually 5–10 minutes.
3
Pay and collect your visa
Once approved, you'll get a sticker in your passport. Check the validity dates before walking away. Then proceed to the immigration queue for entry stamping.
4
Show onward ticket if asked
At immigration, the officer may ask for your return ticket. Have it ready on your phone. They rarely ask for accommodation proof, but it's smart to have it.
