Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it printed saves time if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you can support yourself. No set minimum amount, but around $500 USD for a short trip is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Check-Mig is mandatory — don't skip it
You must complete the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co within 72 hours before your flight. Without it, you may be denied boarding or face delays at immigration. Do it on your phone or laptop before heading to the airport.
90-day stay is not extendable
The visa-free entry gives you exactly 90 days. If you want to stay longer, you must leave Colombia before day 90 and re-enter, or apply for a different visa. Overstaying can lead to fines and future entry bans.

What happens at the border

1
Complete Check-Mig online
Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill in the Check-Mig form. You'll need your flight details, passport info, and first night's accommodation address. The form is free and takes about 10 minutes. Do it within 72 hours before your flight — not earlier.
2
Arrive at Colombian immigration
At any Colombian airport (Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, etc.), follow signs to 'Migración' or 'Extranjería'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, boarding pass, and Check-Mig confirmation ready. The officer will stamp your passport with up to 90 days.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually a green/red channel system — if you have nothing to declare, go green. Keep your passport handy in case of random checks.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you must leave Colombia before day 90 and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type (e.g., a tourist visa extension is not available). Overstaying can result in fines and a ban.
You may be denied boarding by your airline or delayed at immigration. The form is mandatory and free. Do it within 72 hours before your flight — not earlier, not later. If you miss it, try completing it at the airport before check-in, but it's risky.
Not required for entry from Singapore, but recommended if you plan to visit the Amazon, Sierra Nevada, or other jungle areas. Some airlines may ask for proof if you're transiting through a yellow fever endemic country. Check with your doctor.
No. Immigration requires at least 6 months of validity from your arrival date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel. Airlines also enforce this rule at check-in.
No, it's completely free. You only pay if you apply for a visa (which you don't need). The Check-Mig form is also free. Avoid any website that asks for payment — use the official migracioncolombia.gov.co site.
Report it immediately to the local police (Policía Nacional) and get a police report. Then contact the Singapore Embassy in Bogotá (Calle 90 No. 19-41, phone +57 1 623 1234) for an emergency travel document. Keep a photocopy or digital scan of your passport separately.
Technically, the visa-free entry is for tourism or business meetings only. Remote work for a foreign employer is a grey area — many digital nomads do it, but officially you're not allowed to earn income in Colombia. For long-term remote work, consider a Digital Nomad Visa (available since 2022).
