Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure from the Schengen area
Your passport needs at least 3 months of validity after your planned exit from France. The 90-day Schengen limit applies across all 27 Schengen countries — you cannot reset it by hopping to another Schengen state.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at Paris CDG and other French airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb reservation, or a signed letter from your host with their address and contact details. Officers at border control occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient means of support for your stay
Carry at least €65 per day of your stay in cash or a card statement showing available funds. French border police can request proof of financial means on arrival.Recommended
Overstaying is serious
Even one day over the 90-day limit can result in a fine, a ban from Schengen for up to 5 years, and problems with future visa applications. Set a calendar reminder to leave before day 90.
Schengen 90/180 rule
The 90-day limit is per 180-day rolling window. Use the EU's online calculator to track your days if you travel frequently in Europe.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport in France
At Paris Charles de Gaulle or any other French airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Singapore is non-EU, so use the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport and return ticket ready.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying, and your return flight. Answer clearly and briefly. They rarely ask for proof of funds for Singaporeans, but have a bank statement or credit card handy just in case.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry. Check the stamp before walking away — if it's smudged or missing, ask for a re-stamp. Keep the stamp visible for your entire stay.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim. Then walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're now legally in France.
