Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay in Schengen area
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Norway and the Schengen zone. Norway does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but some airlines may ask for it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration officers at Oslo Gardermoen and other Schengen entry points routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation, Airbnb receipt, or a letter of invitation from your host in Norway. Border officers may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least 500 NOK per day of your stay. Immigration rarely checks this for Singapore passport holders, but it's safer to have evidence ready.Recommended
Schengen 90/180 day rule
Your 90-day visa-free stay applies to the entire Schengen Area, not just Norway. If you've already spent time in other Schengen countries (e.g., France, Germany) in the past 180 days, that counts toward your total. Use the Schengen calculator online to track your days.
Entry stamp check
Always check the entry stamp in your passport before leaving the immigration counter. If the officer stamps the wrong date or writes the wrong number of days, ask them to correct it immediately. A mistake can cause problems when you leave.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Norwegian border control
At Oslo Gardermoen or any other airport, join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport ready. The officer will check your passport validity, ask about your trip purpose and duration, and may request your return ticket or accommodation proof.
2
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the number of days allowed (usually 90). Check the stamp before leaving the counter — if it's wrong, ask for a correction immediately.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There are no additional forms to fill unless you're carrying goods to declare.

Frequently asked questions

Up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This is the standard Schengen Area rule. The 90 days reset only after you leave the Schengen zone for 90 consecutive days.
No, the visa-free stay is not extendable for tourism. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a residence permit before your 90 days expire. Overstaying can lead to fines or a re-entry ban.
No, if you stay airside (don't pass through immigration) and your connecting flight is within 24 hours, you don't need a visa. If you need to enter Norway during a layover, the visa-free rules apply.
You will likely be denied boarding or entry. Renew your passport before traveling. Some airlines are strict about this rule even if immigration might be lenient.
Immigration officers can ask. It's smart to carry a recent bank statement or have a credit card ready. There's no fixed amount, but around 500 NOK (about 45 EUR) per day is a safe guideline.
Not strictly required for entry, but strongly recommended. Medical costs in Norway are high — a simple hospital visit can cost hundreds of euros. Insurance also covers trip cancellation and lost luggage.
No, the visa-free stay is for tourism and business meetings only. Remote work for a foreign employer is technically not allowed. If you plan to work, you need a work permit or a digital nomad visa (Norway doesn't offer one yet).
