German passport holders can enter Singapore visa-free for stays up to 90 days for tourism or business. This arrangement continues in 2026. Ensure your passport meets the requirements below before travel.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Singapore requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. A flight booking out of Singapore within 90 days works — they rarely check if it's a paid ticket or a refundable hold.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Officers ask for this less often than the return ticket, but it speeds things up if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 1,000 SGD (or equivalent). Immigration rarely checks this for German passport holders, but it's a formal requirement.Recommended
SG Arrival Card (SGAC)
Digital pre-arrival registration
Complete the free SG Arrival Card at eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard within 3 days before your flight. You get a QR code — show it at immigration instead of filling a paper card.Optional
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Even one day short of 6 months and you will be denied entry. Check your passport now, not at the airport.
Onward ticket is a legal requirement, but rarely checked
Singapore law requires all visitors to hold a ticket out of the country. While border officers seldom ask German passport holders, it's wise to keep a printed or digital copy of your return flight to avoid any risk of denial.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Singapore Changi Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and 'Foreign Passports'. You'll join the queue for non-residents. Have your passport ready with the photo page open. If you submitted the SG Arrival Card online, have the confirmation handy (screenshot is fine).
2
Approach the immigration counter
Hand over your passport (and the SG Arrival Card confirmation if requested). The officer will scan it, check your photo, and may ask simple questions like 'Purpose of visit?' or 'How long are you staying?'. Answer briefly and honestly.
3
Fingerprint scan
Singapore uses biometric registration. You'll be asked to place your left and right thumb fingers on the scanner one at a time. This is quick.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the number of days allowed (usually 90). Check the stamp before walking away. If it's wrong, ask immediately.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After clearance, proceed to baggage claim, then to Customs (usually green channel if nothing to declare). You're now legally in Singapore.

Frequently asked questions

No. Singapore does not allow extensions for visa-free visitors. You must leave before your 90 days expire. Overstaying can result in fines (up to SGD 1,000 per day), detention, or a ban.
You will be denied entry at the immigration counter. Airlines may also refuse boarding. Always renew your passport before travel if it's within 6 months of expiry.
Yes. The SG Arrival Card is now mandatory for all travellers entering Singapore. You must submit it online via the ICA website or app within 3 days before your arrival. It is not a visa but a required entry document. Failing to submit it may cause delays at immigration.
No. Visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, or social visits only. Any work, paid or unpaid, or study requires the appropriate visa or work pass. Violating this can lead to deportation and a ban from re-entering Singapore.
No specific amount is published. You just need to convince the officer you can support yourself. A credit card with available limit and a few hundred SGD in cash (e.g., SGD 500) usually suffice.
You can't extend. You must leave Singapore (e.g., to Malaysia or Thailand) and then you can re-enter, but immigration may question short trips that look like visa runs. A new 90-day period is at their discretion.
If you are transiting and do not pass through immigration (remain in the transit area), no visa is needed. To leave the airport, you need the same visa-free access (or a visa if your nationality requires one).
