Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your full stay
At least 6 months validity beyond your entry date. Minimum 1 blank page for the entry stamp. Airlines may deny boarding if validity is too close.Required
Return or onward ticket
Officers check this regularly
A confirmed flight out of the country. Immigration may ask to see this — have a screenshot ready on your phone. An onward ticket from a neighbouring country also works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel name or address
A hotel booking confirmation, or the address of where you are staying. The arrival form often asks for this. A Booking.com or Airbnb confirmation email is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Rarely checked
Immigration officers may ask you to demonstrate sufficient funds for your stay. A credit card or bank statement usually suffices.Recommended
Plan ahead – no fast track
The Israeli visa process is manual and takes time. Do not book non-refundable flights until you have the visa in hand. Also, note that the embassy in New Delhi and consulate in Mumbai have limited walk-in slots – arrive early.
Entry to Israel may affect travel to certain Muslim countries
If you have an Israeli visa or entry stamp, it may cause problems when applying for visas to countries like Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and others. Some people request a separate entry card (not stamped in passport) when entering Israel, but that is not guaranteed. Consider the long-term impact before your trip.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport, photos, filled form, flight/hotel confirmations, bank statements, insurance, and fee payment receipt. Double-check the visa checklist on the Israeli embassy's site before heading to the consulate.
2
Submit the application in person
You must physically visit the Israeli embassy in New Delhi or the consulate in Mumbai (depending on jurisdiction). No postal applications. Walk-in hours vary, so check the website. You will hand over your passport and documents, pay the fee, and give biometrics if required.
3
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 5–10 business days. During peak seasons or if documents are incomplete, it can take up to three weeks. You will be notified by phone or email when your passport is ready for pickup.
4
Collect your visa
Return to the same embassy/consulate with the original collection receipt. They will paste the visa sticker into your passport. Keep it safe – you will need to show it upon arrival in Israel.
5
Arrive at Israel (Ben Gurion Airport)
At passport control in Tel Aviv, present your passport with the visa. The officer may ask about your itinerary, accommodation, and purpose of stay. Answer clearly. You will get a small slip (entry card) – do not lose it; you need to return it when leaving Israel.
