Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your full stay
At least 6 months validity beyond your entry date. Minimum 1 blank page for the entry stamp. Airlines may deny boarding if validity is too close.Required
Return or onward ticket
Officers check this regularly
A confirmed flight out of the country. Immigration may ask to see this — have a screenshot ready on your phone. An onward ticket from a neighbouring country also works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel name or address
A hotel booking confirmation, or the address of where you are staying. The arrival form often asks for this. A Booking.com or Airbnb confirmation email is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Rarely checked
Immigration officers may ask you to demonstrate sufficient funds for your stay. A credit card or bank statement usually suffices.Recommended
e-Visa only for tourism/business
The e-Visa is valid for tourism or business visits. If you plan to work, study, or stay longer than 90 days, you must get a different visa from a Turkish embassy before travel.
Apply only on official site
Only use evisa.gov.tr. Many unofficial websites charge higher fees. The official site is available in multiple languages and processes payments securely.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to evisa.gov.tr, fill in your details, pay the fee (around US$60), and download the approved e-Visa PDF. Print two copies – one for your luggage and one to keep with your passport.
2
At the airport in India
At check-in, show your printed e-Visa, passport, and return ticket. The airline will check your eligibility and may ask for hotel bookings. Without these, you could be denied boarding.
3
Arrival at Turkish airport (e.g., Istanbul IST or SAW)
Follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport, printed e-Visa, and (if asked) accommodation details. The officer stamps your passport. E-Visa holders usually get up to 90 days. Keep the entry slip in your passport.
