Jordan entry requirements for Japan passport holders
Japanese passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Jordan without applying beforehand. Land at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, pay the fee in cash, and receive an entry stamp. As of 2026, this is the standard entry method for Japanese citizens.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Visa on arrival Jordan visa on arrival | Japanese passport holders get a visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby) border crossing. The visa costs 40 JOD (about $56 USD) for a single-entry stay up to 30 days. Have cash in Jordanian dinars or USD ready — the visa counter does not accept credit cards.Apply online | Required |
| Valid passport Passport validity | Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Jordan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page separately. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of onward travel | Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. A printed itinerary or e-ticket showing a flight out of Jordan within 30 days works. If you plan to exit overland, have a bus or ferry booking ready. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or invitation letter | Have a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from a Jordanian host ready. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A booking confirmation from Booking.com or Agoda is fine. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Financial means | Carry at least 500 JOD (about $700 USD) in cash or have a credit card with a visible limit. Immigration rarely checks, but if asked, show a bank statement or ATM card. ATMs are widely available in Amman. | Recommended |
