Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Denmark. Schengen border officers rarely enforce the 6-month rule for UAE passport holders, but your airline may check it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration at Copenhagen Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Denmark. Border officers may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient means for your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you can cover your expenses. Denmark does not publish a fixed amount, but around 500 DKK per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry, not departure
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Denmark. If it expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding by the airline. Check your passport now.
90-day limit applies to all Schengen countries
Your 90-day visa-free stay is for the entire Schengen area. If you spend 30 days in France and 60 in Denmark, you've used up your 90 days. You cannot reset the clock by hopping between countries.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, check your passport validity (6+ months from entry), book your return/onward ticket, and save your accommodation confirmation and insurance details on your phone.
2
Arrive at Copenhagen Airport (or other entry point)
At passport control, join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport — that's it.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in.

Frequently asked questions

No. The 90-day visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, and family visits only. You cannot take up employment or study. For work, you need a residence and work permit.
You cannot extend the 90-day visa-free stay from within Denmark. You must leave the Schengen area before day 90. For longer stays, apply for a national visa (type D) or residence permit before travelling.
If you're staying less than 90 days, no registration is needed. If you plan to stay longer (with a permit), you must register at the local municipality within 5 days of arrival.
Yes. The 90-day limit applies to the entire Schengen area, not just Denmark. If you fly into Germany and then travel to Denmark, your 90 days start from the first Schengen entry.
You must have a valid passport for the entire stay. If it expires, contact your embassy immediately for an emergency travel document. You cannot leave Denmark on an expired passport.
No. UAE passport holders get visa-free access, not visa on arrival. You don't need to apply or pay anything before travel.
You need proof of onward travel out of the Schengen area. A ferry ticket or bus ticket to a non-Schengen country works. A ticket to another Schengen country does not count.
