Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay in Monaco
Your UAE passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Monaco. Schengen border officers check that the passport is not expired — no 6-month rule applies for UAE nationals entering the Schengen zone.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration at Monaco's port or at the French border may ask for a return or onward ticket out of the Schengen zone. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight, train, or ferry booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation, rental agreement, or a letter of invitation from your host in Monaco. Border officers occasionally ask for this during random checks.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient means for your stay
Have bank statements, a credit card, or cash showing you can cover your expenses. Monaco does not publish a fixed minimum, but around €100–150 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Monaco is not in the Schengen area — but entry rules are the same
Monaco has an open border with France, so you enter through French border control. The 90-day Schengen limit applies to Monaco as well. Your days in Monaco count toward your Schengen stay.
Overstaying can get you banned
Staying longer than 90 days without a visa can result in a fine and a re-entry ban to the entire Schengen area. Set a calendar reminder to leave before day 90.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Monaco via Nice Airport or Train
Most travellers fly into Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) in France, then take a helicopter, bus, or train to Monaco. At the airport, you'll go through French border control (Schengen entry). Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation proof ready. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and length of stay.
2
Present Documents at Border Control
Hand over your passport. If asked, state 'tourism' and the number of days. Show your return ticket and hotel booking if requested. The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. No visa is needed.
3
Collect Luggage and Exit
After the stamp, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through the green 'nothing to declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. You're now in the Schengen area and can proceed to Monaco.
