Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your UAE passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Mexico. Immigration officers at Mexico City and Cancún airports check this routinely. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required by Mexican law, but airlines may ask for 6 months — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Mexico
Immigration officers at Mexico City, Cancún, and other airports regularly ask for a return or onward ticket within your 180-day visa-free stay. Budget airlines like Volaris and Viva Aerobus check this at check-in. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address is enough. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers at Mexican airports sometimes ask for proof of sufficient funds, especially if you're staying a long time or have no return ticket. A bank statement showing a few thousand dollars or a credit card with a decent limit usually satisfies them.Recommended
Keep Your FMM Form Safe
The bottom half of the Multiple Immigration Form (FMM) is your exit permit. Lose it and you'll face fines and delays at departure. Staple it inside your passport.
No Visa Needed for 2026
UAE passport holders enjoy visa-free access to Mexico for up to 180 days. This policy is stable, but always check for updates before booking.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare Documents Before Travel
Ensure your passport is valid for 6+ months. Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save screenshots of your flight and hotel confirmations on your phone.
2
Complete Immigration Form (FMM)
You'll receive a Multiple Immigration Form (FMM) on the flight or at the airport. Fill it out in blue or black ink. Keep the bottom half after immigration — you'll need to return it when you leave Mexico.
3
Arrival at Mexican Immigration
At the airport, join the 'Foreigners' queue. Present your passport and completed FMM. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp allowing up to 180 days.
4
Baggage Claim and Customs
After immigration, collect your luggage. At customs, you may be asked to press a button on a traffic light system — green means no inspection, red means a bag check. Declare any goods over $300 USD.
