Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Oman. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required by Omani law, but airlines sometimes enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Oman
Immigration officers at Muscat and Salalah airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they'll check it before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Not always requested, but having a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host speeds things up at the border. If you're staying with friends, ask them to send a scanned copy of their ID and a brief invitation.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Oman doesn't have a fixed minimum, but carrying around 200 OMR ($520) in cash or having a bank statement showing recent transactions covers you if asked. ATMs are widely available in Muscat.Recommended
Visa-free entry is for tourism and short business only
You cannot work or study under this arrangement. If your purpose is employment, study, or long-term stay, you must apply for the appropriate visa before traveling.
No visa fee for UAE passport holders
Entry is completely free. No payment is required at the border or online. If anyone asks for a fee, it's likely a scam.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
Whether you fly into Muscat International Airport or arrive by land at one of the border crossings (e.g., Hatta, Al Buraimi), proceed to the immigration counter for foreign passports.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your UAE passport. The officer will check your validity (6+ months) and stamp you in. No visa fee, no forms to fill.
3
Show supporting documents if asked
Immigration may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. Have them ready on your phone or printed. This is rare for UAE passport holders but can happen.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim (if flying) then customs. You're free to enter Oman. The entire process usually takes 5–15 minutes.
