Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your UAE passport needs to be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Qatar. Immigration officers at Hamad International Airport check this at the counter — they do not enforce a 6-month validity rule for UAE nationals.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Qatar
Airlines check for a confirmed onward or return ticket at check-in in the UAE. Immigration in Doha rarely asks for it, but the airline will deny boarding without one.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed or digital hotel confirmation ready. If staying with a friend or family, carry their Qatar ID copy and a letter of invitation — immigration may ask for it if you look uncertain.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card for your stay
Carry a credit or debit card and some Qatari Riyal cash (around 500 QAR). Immigration rarely checks this for UAE nationals, but having it avoids delays if asked.Recommended
No visa needed — but keep documents handy
You don't need a visa, but immigration officers can still ask for proof of onward travel and accommodation. Keep digital copies on your phone or printed backups in your bag.
UAE residents also get visa-free entry
If you're a UAE resident (not a citizen), you may also be eligible for visa-free entry to Qatar depending on your nationality. Check your specific passport's requirements before traveling.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hamad International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for GCC nationals and other nationalities — you'll use the 'All Passports' queue. Wait times are usually 10-20 minutes.
2
Present your passport at the counter
Hand over your passport to the immigration officer. They'll check your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking. Answer clearly and politely.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a 90-day visa-free entry. No fee, no forms. You're free to enter Qatar.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
Proceed to baggage claim, then head through customs (green channel for nothing to declare). You're in.
