UAE passport holders need an e-visa to enter Uganda. The process is entirely online and straightforward — you apply before you travel, and approval usually takes a few days. As of 2026, this is the standard entry method for tourism or short business visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Uganda eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official Uganda eVisa portal. The standard tourist eVisa costs $50 USD and is typically processed within 2-3 business days. You will need a digital passport photo, a copy of your passport bio page, and a travel itinerary.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
Your passport must have at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. Uganda strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uganda
Immigration officers at Entebbe Airport routinely ask for proof of a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready. Airlines also check this before issuing your boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda ready. Immigration may ask for your accommodation details during the interview at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry a bank statement or a credit card showing you have sufficient funds for your trip. Immigration officers may ask how you plan to cover your expenses while in Uganda.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate required
Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers over 1 year old. Carry your yellow card with your passport — immigration may ask to see it on arrival.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Uganda, not from your departure date. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2-5 business days.
2
Receive approval and print
You'll get an approval letter by email. Print it out — you'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival in Uganda. Save a digital copy on your phone as backup.
3
Arrive at Entebbe Airport
At Entebbe International Airport (the main entry point), head to immigration. Present your passport, printed eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10-20 minutes.
