Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az. The process takes about 3 working days and costs $25 USD. Print the approved eVisa and carry it with your passport — border officers will check it on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Azerbaijan. Airlines check this before boarding, and immigration officers enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Azerbaijan
Immigration officers may ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket showing you will leave Azerbaijan within the eVisa's validity period. Have a printed copy or digital version ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter from your host in Azerbaijan. Officers occasionally ask for this to verify your stay address.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient money for your stay
Have bank statements, cash, or a credit card available to show you can cover your expenses. Officers rarely ask, but it's safer to have evidence of at least $50 USD per day.Recommended
Overstaying is expensive
Overstaying your eVisa by even a day can result in a fine of 300–500 AZN (about $175–$300 USD) and a potential re-entry ban. Set a calendar reminder to leave on time.
Registration after 15 days
If you're staying longer than 15 days, your hotel or host must register you with the State Migration Service. If you're in a private residence, you need to do this yourself at the nearest migration office. Failure to register can lead to fines.

No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave before it expires. If you need more time, you'd have to exit and re-enter with a new visa.
Only if you stay more than 15 days. Your hotel will usually handle it automatically. If you're in a private home, you must go to the State Migration Service office in person within 15 days of arrival.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll be fined (around 300–500 AZN) and may be banned from re-entering for up to a year. Don't risk it — set a reminder to leave on time.
Yes, the eVisa is valid for entry at all international border crossings, including land borders from Georgia, Russia, and Iran. Just show the printed visa and your passport.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your passport photo doesn't meet standards or if you have a criminal record. You'll get a refund minus a small processing fee. You can reapply with corrected info.
If you're staying airside and not passing through immigration, you don't need a visa. But if you want to leave the airport or have a layover longer than 24 hours, you'll need the eVisa.
