Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Colombia
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your trip. Colombia does not require 6 months of remaining validity beyond your departure date, but some airlines enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Check-Mig pre-registrationCheck-Mig: Colombia's mandatory online pre-registration form at migracioncolombia.gov.co. Complete it within 72 hours before your flight — it takes under 5 minutes.
Mandatory online form for all travellers
Complete the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co within 72 hours before your flight. Takes under 5 minutes — you get a QR code that immigration scans on arrival. No QR code means you wait in a separate line while they process you manually.Open Check-Mig formRequired
Return or onward ticket
Proof you will leave Colombia within 90 days
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward flight ticket at Bogotá and Medellín airports. A bus ticket to Ecuador or a flight to Panama works — just show you're leaving within the visa-free window.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Not always checked, but having a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host speeds things up. If you're staying with friends, have their full address and phone number ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Officers rarely ask for bank statements, but carrying a credit card and some cash (COP or USD) covers you. No set minimum amount — just be able to explain how you'll pay for your trip.Recommended
Check-Mig is mandatory
You must complete the free Check-Mig form online within 72 hours of your flight. Without it, you may be denied boarding or entry. Save the confirmation — it's your proof.
90-day stay is not extendable
Unlike some other countries, Colombia does not allow you to extend the 90-day tourist stay. If you want to stay longer, you must leave and re-enter. Plan accordingly.
No visa needed — just show up
Argentine passport holders enjoy visa-free access to Colombia. No embassy visits, no fees, no paperwork beyond Check-Mig. Just a valid passport and a return ticket.

What happens at the border

2
Arrive at the airport in Colombia
You'll land at El Dorado (Bogotá), José María Córdova (Medellín), or Rafael Núñez (Cartagena). Follow signs to 'Migración' or 'Extranjería'. The queue for foreigners is separate from Colombian nationals.
3
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket, accommodation proof, or Check-Mig confirmation. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a 90-day entry.

Overstaying is a violation. You may be fined when leaving Colombia (around 2-3 USD per day over, but can vary). More importantly, it can affect future visa applications. Always leave on time or get an exit permit if you have a valid reason.
Not required for Argentine passport holders arriving directly from Argentina. However, if you plan to visit certain regions (Amazon, jungle areas), you may be asked for proof of yellow fever vaccination at internal checkpoints. It's recommended to get it anyway.
