Argentine passport holders can visit Latvia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This has been the case since Latvia joined the Schengen Area. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 3 months of validity beyond your departure date from the Schengen area. Latvia follows Schengen rules — the 90-day limit applies across all 27 Schengen countries combined, not just Latvia.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at Riga Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready — budget airlines sometimes check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation email or a letter from a friend with their address and phone number works. I've been asked for this at Riga passport control twice in the last year.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Latvia can ask for proof of funds — roughly €50–€70 per day of your stay. A bank statement or credit card with available limit is enough. They rarely check this for short visits, but have it ready.Recommended
90-day limit applies to all Schengen countries
Your 90-day visa-free stay is for the entire Schengen Area, not just Latvia. If you've already spent time in France, Germany, or any other Schengen country in the past 180 days, that counts toward your 90-day limit. Keep track using the Schengen calculator app.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Riga Airport or land border
You'll go through Schengen border control. At Riga Airport (RIX), join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and where you're staying.
2
Present your passport for stamping
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your face matches the photo, verify your passport validity, and stamp the entry date. This stamp is your proof of legal entry.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
