Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal before departure. Processing takes 2–3 business days, so do not wait until the last minute. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Uganda. No minimum validity beyond that is required by Ugandan law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Entebbe routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Officers may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or cash available to show you can cover your stay. Uganda does not publish a fixed minimum, but $200–$300 USD equivalent is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have the yellow fever vaccine at least 10 days before travel and carry the International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card). Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (which costs money and time).
Apply early for your eVisa
The official portal works well, but processing times can vary. Don't wait until the last minute — apply at least 7 days before your flight. If you're applying during peak travel season (June–August or December), allow even more time.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda immigration portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in the application form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) by credit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but apply at least a week before your flight to be safe.
2
Receive and save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with a PDF attachment. Print it out and also save a copy on your phone. You'll need to show it at airline check-in and again at immigration in Entebbe.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
When you land, follow signs to 'Visa/Immigration'. Join the queue for 'eVisa holders'. Hand over your passport, eVisa approval, and the arrival card (you'll fill this out on the plane or at a kiosk). The officer will check your details, take your fingerprints, and stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10–15 minutes if you have everything ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually a quick bag scan. You're free to go after that.

Frequently asked questions

No. As of 2026, Uganda does not offer visa on arrival for Argentinian passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you travel.
A single-entry tourist eVisa costs about $50 USD. You pay online by credit card during the application. There are also multiple-entry and transit visas available, but the single-entry is the standard for tourists.
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but it can be faster. Apply at least a week before your flight to avoid stress. If you're in a rush, you can pay an extra fee for expedited processing (24–48 hours).
You'll be denied entry. The 6-month validity rule is strictly enforced. Renew your passport before applying for the eVisa.
Yes. Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers over 1 year old. You'll need to show the yellow card (International Certificate of Vaccination) upon arrival. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before travel.
Yes, you can apply for an extension at the Uganda Immigration Headquarters in Kampala. The standard tourist visa is valid for 90 days. Extensions are possible but not guaranteed — you'll need a good reason and pay a fee. It's easier to just apply for a longer visa upfront if you know you'll stay longer.
You may be denied boarding by your airline or refused entry at immigration. Always have a confirmed onward or return ticket. A flexible ticket that you can change later is fine.
