Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Austrian passport needs to be valid only for the time you plan to stay in Namibia. Airlines may ask for at least 6 months validity, so check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Namibia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready at the border.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host. Officers rarely check this for short stays, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 500 NAD per day. Officers almost never ask for this, but it's good to have.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the day you enter Namibia, not your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied entry.
Overstaying is not allowed
The 90-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. Overstaying can lead to fines or a re-entry ban. Plan your exit carefully.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport (Windhoek)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in for up to 90 days. The process usually takes 5-15 minutes.
2
Present documents at the counter
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. You're free to go.
