Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Pakistan eVisaYou need to get this visa approved before you fly – it's not available at the border.
Apply online before travel
Austrian citizens must obtain an eVisa prior to arrival. The application is submitted online through the official Pakistan eVisa portal. There is no visa on arrival for Austrian passport holders.Required
Passport validityIf your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied entry – renew it before you go.
At least 6 months from arrival
Your Austrian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended date of entry into Pakistan.Required
Blank passport pagesBorder officials need a clean page to stamp your passport – without it, you may be turned away.
At least 1 blank page
Your passport must contain at least one blank page for the entry stamp. It's wise to have more than one blank page if you plan to exit overland or need additional stamps.Required
Return or onward ticketHaving a booked ticket out of Pakistan shows you intend to leave, which can speed up entry.
May be requested
Although not always checked, immigration officials may ask for proof of a return or onward ticket. It is strongly recommended to have one ready to show if requested.Recommended
Proof of fundsCarry a bank statement or card to prove you can support yourself during your visit.
May be requested
You may be asked to show evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. No specific amount is published, but carrying a credit card and some cash (Pakistani Rupees or a major currency) is advisable.Recommended
Arrival declarationYou don't need to fill out any extra online form before you arrive – just your eVisa and passport.
Not required
No separate arrival declaration form is required for Austria passport holders entering Pakistan. Not required
Visa required — no exceptions at the border
Do not show up at a Pakistani airport without an approved visa. You will be denied boarding by the airline and sent back. Apply online well in advance.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your visa PDF, passport scan, and onward ticket to your phone and email. If you lose the printed visa, you can show the digital copy at immigration — but having a printout is smoother.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your visa online
Go to visa.nadra.gov.pk, create an account, and fill out the application. Choose 'Austria' as your nationality. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a recent passport-style photo. Pay the fee online (around $60–$100 depending on visa type). Processing takes 3–10 working days.
2
Receive your visa and print it
Once approved, you'll get a PDF visa sticker via email. Print it out — you'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival. Also save a copy on your phone.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
At the airport in Austria, the airline will check your visa and onward ticket. Have your printed visa, passport, and return ticket ready. They may also ask for proof of accommodation.
4
Arrive in Pakistan and go through immigration
At Islamabad, Karachi, or Lahore airport, join the 'Foreigners' queue. Hand over your passport, printed visa, and boarding pass. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport — check the stamp says the correct duration (usually 30 days).
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs declaration form to fill if you're carrying more than $5,000 in cash or restricted items. Otherwise, walk through the green channel and you're out.
