Proof of departure from Ukraine
Border officers at Kyiv Boryspil and land crossings routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave within 90 days.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least €50 per day of your stay.Recommended
Overstaying is serious
Overstaying your 90-day visa-free period can result in fines (up to 8,500 UAH / €200), deportation, and a ban from re-entering Ukraine for up to 3 years. Track your days carefully.
Register if staying 30+ days
If you're staying more than 30 days, you must register with the local migration office. Hotels do this automatically. If renting privately, your landlord must register you within 30 days of arrival. Failure to register can lead to fines.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date), print or save your return ticket and first-night accommodation confirmation. Also download an eSIM or buy a local SIM at the airport.
2
Arrive at the border
At any Ukrainian airport (Kyiv Boryspil, Lviv, Odesa) or land border crossing, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation ready. The officer will stamp your passport — that's your entry.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The border officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry. Check the stamp is legible and the date is correct. You're now allowed to stay up to 90 days.
4
Register your stay (if staying long-term)
If you're staying more than 30 days, you must register with the local migration office. Hotels do this automatically. If renting privately, your landlord must register you within 30 days of arrival.
