Estonia entry requirements for Australia passport holders
Australian passport holders don't need a visa for short stays in Estonia. You can enter and travel freely within Estonia and the wider Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This rule has been in place for years and stays the same in 2026.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure date from Estonia | Your Australian passport needs at least 3 months validity after your planned exit from the Schengen area. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from the Schengen area | Border officers at Tallinn Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. A flight booking out of the Schengen zone within 90 days works — they don't care if it's a cheap bus to Riga or a flight back to Sydney. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Keep a copy of your hotel confirmation or a letter from your host. Immigration rarely asks for it, but if they do, having it ready avoids a 20-minute delay at the counter. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Bank statement or cash | Carry a recent bank statement showing at least €50–€70 per day of your stay. In practice, border officers rarely check this for Australians, but a printed statement costs nothing and kills the question. | Recommended |

- If leaving the airport or entering Estonia, standard visa-free rules apply (up to 90 days).
- Transit through multiple Schengen airports may require a visa if crossing external borders.
