Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Belarusian law, but some airlines may enforce 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Immigration officers at Minsk National Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound booking ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officials may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation from a Belarusian host (if staying with friends or family) ready to show.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means for the stay
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your trip. Carry cash or a bank statement showing at least €50 per day of your stay — this is the unofficial threshold officers use.Recommended
Visa-free only for stays up to 30 days
The 30-day limit is strict. You cannot extend it. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a visa at a Belarusian embassy before travelling.
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Belarus. If it's even a day short, you'll be turned away at the border.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you travel, gather your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, first night accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Save screenshots of your ticket and booking on your phone.
2
Arrive at Minsk National Airport (MSQ)
Most travellers fly into Minsk. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' — there are separate queues for Belarusian citizens and foreigners. Join the 'Foreign Citizens' line.
3
Present your documents to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer will check your passport validity, stamp you in, and return your passport. This usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Unless you're carrying large amounts of cash or restricted goods, you'll walk straight through the green channel.
