Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a DR Congo eVisa at visa.gouv.cd before departure. The online form requires a passport scan, recent photo, and proof of yellow fever vaccination. Processing takes 3–5 business days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond stay
Your Bosnia and Herzegovina passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into DR Congo. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at N'djili Airport (FIH) and Lubumbashi (FBM) routinely asks for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital return ticket or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without it, you may be refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration officers may ask for your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Have a printed confirmation or a digital copy on your phone. If staying with friends, a signed invitation letter with their address helps.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. DR Congo is a cash-heavy country — credit cards are rarely accepted outside major hotels in Kinshasa. Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter DR Congo. No exceptions. Get the shot at least 10 days before you fly.
Carry cash in USD
ATMs are rare and unreliable in DR Congo. Bring enough US dollars in small bills ($1, $5, $10) for taxis, food, and incidentals. The local currency (Congolese franc) is used for small purchases.
