Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Colombia
Immigration officers at Bogotá El Dorado and other airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone — a flight booking confirmation works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a copy of your hotel reservation or a letter from your host. Immigration rarely asks for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card available. Colombia doesn't set a fixed minimum, but showing you have enough for your stay (around $50 USD per day) covers you if asked.Recommended
Check-Mig is mandatory — do it before your flight
You must complete the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co between 72 hours and 1 hour before your flight. Without it, you may be denied boarding. Save the confirmation on your phone.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land. If it expires sooner, renew it before you travel. No exceptions.

What happens at the border

1
Complete Check-Mig online
Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill in the Check-Mig form. Do this between 72 and 1 hour before your flight. You'll need your flight details, passport info, and accommodation address. Save the confirmation PDF or screenshot.
2
Prepare your documents
Before you reach immigration, have your passport, Check-Mig confirmation, and return ticket ready. Keep them in an easily accessible pocket or folder.
3
Arrive at immigration counter
At any Colombian airport (Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, etc.), join the 'Foreigners' or 'Pasaportes' line. Hand over your passport and the officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, length of stay). Answer clearly and briefly.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. That's it — you're in.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free stay for Bosnian passport holders is not extendable. You must leave Colombia before the 90 days are up. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a different visa type before traveling.
Overstaying can result in a fine (around 2-3 USD per day over) and a ban from re-entering Colombia for a period. It's best to leave on time.
Not required for entry from Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, if you plan to visit certain regions (Amazon, some national parks), you may be asked for proof. Check with your airline or the Colombian consulate if you're heading to those areas.
No. Immigration strictly requires at least 6 months of validity from your entry date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before traveling.
Yes. It's a legal requirement. You won't be allowed to board your flight without completing it. It's free and takes about 5 minutes online.
The local currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, but you'll get a better rate using local currency. ATMs are common in cities. Avoid exchanging at airports — rates are poor.
Technically, the visa-free entry is for tourism or business meetings. Remote work for a foreign employer is in a gray area. Many digital nomads do it, but officially you're not allowed to earn income in Colombia. For long-term remote work, consider a digital nomad visa if available.
