Bosnia and Herzegovina passport holders need a visa to enter Egypt. The easiest option is an eVisa, which you apply for online before you travel. As of 2026, the eVisa is valid for tourism and allows a single entry for up to 30 days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Egypt. Apply at the official eVisa portal at least 7 days before your trip. The single-entry eVisa costs $25 USD and is valid for 30 days from the date of entry.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Egypt. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Cairo Airport routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone showing your departure from Egypt within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel confirmation, hostel booking, or an invitation letter from your host ready. A screenshot of your booking confirmation works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement
Officers rarely ask, but having $1,000 USD equivalent in cash or a credit card with available limit covers you. ATMs are widely available in Cairo and tourist areas.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival
Bosnia and Herzegovina passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Egypt. You must apply for and receive an eVisa before you travel. Without it, you will be denied boarding.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Egypt, not from the day you apply or depart. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Egypt eVisa portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo, and pay the fee (around $25 USD). Processing usually takes 3–7 business days. You'll get a PDF by email — print it and save it on your phone.
2
Pack your documents
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport (6+ months validity), printed eVisa, return flight confirmation, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Cairo International Airport (or other entry point)
When you land, follow signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Immigration'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, eVisa, and return ticket ready. The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and wave you through. No visa-on-arrival option for BA passport holders — the eVisa is your only pre-arrival option.
4
Exit and collect luggage
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're free to go.
