Bosnia and Herzegovina passport holders can visit Moldova without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This visa-free arrangement is in place for 2026 and covers tourism, business, and transit stays. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Moldova. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Moldovan law, but airlines may still enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Moldova
Immigration officers at Chișinău International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight or bus ticket ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officials may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation email or a letter from your host with their address and phone number is enough. I've been asked for this twice at Chișinău — better to have it ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
You might be asked to show you have enough money for your stay. Around €50–100 per day is a safe benchmark. A bank statement or credit card with available limit works fine — they rarely count cash.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Moldova, not from when you leave. If it expires sooner, renew it before your trip.
No visa extension available
The 90-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. If you overstay, you risk fines, deportation, or a ban. Plan your exit carefully.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months), print or save digital copies of your return ticket, first night accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in a folder or on your phone for quick access.
2
Arrive at Chișinău International Airport (or land border)
Most travelers fly into Chișinău (RMO). At passport control, join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and be ready to show your return ticket and accommodation if asked. The officer will stamp you in — usually takes 1-2 minutes.
3
Receive entry stamp and proceed
Once stamped, you're free to enter. The stamp shows your allowed stay (90 days). Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving. If arriving by land from Romania or Ukraine, the process is similar at the border checkpoint.
