Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure date from Tunisia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tunisia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Tunis-Carthage Airport. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before stamping your passport.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Tunisia. Border officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have at least 200 TND (around $65 USD) per day of your stay available in cash or on a card. Immigration may ask to see bank statements or cash if you look like you might work illegally.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before you board. If your passport has less than 6 months validity from your entry date, you'll be denied boarding — no exceptions.
Keep a digital copy of everything
Save photos of your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking to your phone and email. If you lose your documents, this makes replacement much easier.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, check your passport is valid for 6+ months from your entry date. Book a return or onward ticket and save a screenshot. If you're staying in a hotel, have the booking confirmation ready. Print or save everything to your phone.
2
Arrive at Tunis-Carthage Airport (or other entry point)
At the airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (Passeport). Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports' or 'All Passports'. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in — no visa needed. The process usually takes 2-5 minutes.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, go to baggage claim. Then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel unless you have goods to declare. That's it — you're in Tunisia.
