Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply for a visa before travel
Bangladeshi passport holders must obtain a visa from a Malian embassy or consulate before departure. There is no visa on arrival or eVisa system for Bangladesh nationals. Contact the nearest Malian diplomatic mission or check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for application procedures and required documents.Mali MFA visa infoRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the entire period you plan to stay in Mali. While Mali does not strictly enforce a 6-month validity rule, airlines may refuse boarding if your passport expires within 6 months of your travel date. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Mali
Immigration officers at Bamako–Sénou International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready. Without proof of onward travel, you may be denied entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officials may request a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Mali. Have a printed confirmation or a digital copy on your phone. If staying with friends or family, ask them to provide a signed invitation letter with their contact details.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient money for your stay
Carry proof of financial means such as bank statements, credit cards, or cash (CFA francs or euros). There is no fixed minimum amount, but you should be able to cover accommodation, meals, and transport for the duration of your visit. ATMs are available in Bamako but less reliable outside the capital.Recommended
No eVisa — apply at an embassy
Mali does not offer an eVisa for Bangladeshi passport holders. You must apply in person or by mail at a Malian embassy or consulate. Start the process at least 3 weeks before your trip.
Yellow fever certificate required
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (WHO yellow card) on arrival. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and possibly quarantined). Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Carry cash — ATMs are limited
ATMs are scarce outside Bamako and often unreliable. Bring enough Euros or USD to exchange for the first few days. The local currency is the West African CFA franc (XOF). Credit cards are accepted only at upscale hotels and restaurants in Bamako.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your visa at the Malian embassy
Find the Malian embassy or consulate in your country of residence (e.g., in New Delhi, Paris, or Washington DC). Book an appointment if required. Submit your application in person or by mail with all required documents. Pay the fee (around $100 for a single-entry tourist visa). Wait 5–10 business days for processing.
2
Check in at Dhaka airport
At check-in, the airline will verify your visa and passport validity. They may also ask for your return ticket. Make sure you have a printed copy of your visa and itinerary.
3
Arrive at Bamako–Sénou International Airport (BKO)
After landing, proceed to immigration. Present your passport with the visa sticker, your return ticket, and your accommodation booking. The officer may ask the purpose of your visit and how long you plan to stay. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp allowing your stay (usually 30 days).
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. There is a customs check — declare any large amounts of cash (over $10,000 equivalent). Then exit into the arrivals hall.
