Visa on arrival
You can get a visa on arrival at Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet airports. Have USD 50–51 in cash for a single-entry visa (valid 30 days), plus a passport photo. The visa officer will ask for your hotel address and return flight details — have both ready.Apply onlineRequired

Immigration officers at Dhaka routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready to show.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Bangladesh. Immigration may ask for it during the visa-on-arrival process.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least USD 200 in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration officers rarely ask, but the visa-on-arrival form asks for your intended expenses.Recommended
Cash only at the visa counter
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in cash — no credit or debit cards. Bring $51 USD in exact change if possible. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need the visa to get through.
Visa on arrival is single-entry only
Once you leave Bangladesh, the visa expires. If you plan to visit neighboring countries and return, get a multiple-entry visa from the Bangladeshi embassy in Brussels before you go.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out the visa on arrival form
After landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, go to the visa on arrival counter before immigration. Pick up a form, fill it in with your details (passport info, hotel address, return flight number). Keep your pen handy.
2
Submit documents and pay the fee
Hand over your passport, completed form, two photos, and $51 USD (or equivalent). The officer will process your visa. Payment is cash only — no cards. Get exact change if possible.
3
Receive your visa sticker
The officer will stamp a visa sticker into your passport. Check the validity dates before walking away. It's usually valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
4
Proceed to immigration
With your passport now stickered, join the immigration queue. Show your passport, boarding pass, and return ticket if asked. You'll get an entry stamp and you're in.
