Apply for Bhutan e-Permit online
All Belgian passport holders need a Bhutan e-Permit before travel. Apply at bhutan.travel/e-permit — the official tourism portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days; you'll need a scanned passport and a confirmed itinerary from a Bhutanese tour operator.Apply for e-PermitRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Belgian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Bhutan. Immigration at Paro Airport checks this strictly — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Bhutan
You need a confirmed return or onward flight ticket. Bhutan Airlines and Druk Air check this at check-in, and Paro immigration may ask to see it on arrival.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or tour itinerary
Bhutan requires all tourists to book through a licensed tour operator or a pre-approved hotel. Have your confirmed hotel voucher or tour itinerary ready — immigration may ask for it.Recommended
Proof of funds
Minimum $200 per day
Bhutan enforces a minimum daily spend of $200 per person (including accommodation, meals, and guide). Carry proof of sufficient funds — a bank statement or credit card works.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory
You cannot enter Bhutan without an approved eVisa. Apply well in advance — processing can take several days.
Sustainable Development Fee
All tourists must pay a daily SDF of $100 USD per night. This is separate from the eVisa fee and is usually collected by your tour operator or at the airport.
