Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Bulgarian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Belarusian law, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Border officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this at passport control in Minsk National Airport.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation letter from a Belarusian host. If staying with friends, they need to register you with the local migration office within 5 days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can request evidence of sufficient money for your stay. Carry at least €50 per day in cash or a bank statement — Belarus still operates heavily in cash, and ATMs may not accept foreign cards reliably.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Belarus. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. Double-check your passport's expiry date before booking.
Keep a copy of your entry stamp
Take a photo of the entry stamp in your passport. If you lose your passport or it gets stolen, the photo will help prove your legal entry. Also, keep a separate digital copy of your passport's main page.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
You'll enter Belarus at Minsk National Airport (MSQ) or any land border crossing. At the airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' — there are separate queues for Belarusian citizens and foreigners. Join the 'Foreign Passports' line.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation) if asked. The officer will check your passport validity, blank page, and may ask a few questions about your trip (purpose, length of stay, where you're staying). Answer honestly and briefly.
3
Receive entry stamp
If everything is in order, the officer stamps your passport with the entry date and the allowed stay (30 days). Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when you leave. The whole process usually takes 2-5 minutes.
4
Exit procedure
When leaving Belarus, go through passport control again. They'll check your entry stamp and stamp you out. Make sure you haven't overstayed — overstaying even a day can result in a fine or a ban.
