Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Togo eVisa at evisa.gouv.tg before departure. The eVisa is valid for 15 days and costs around 35,000 CFA francs (~$60 USD). Processing takes 2–3 business days — do not wait until the last minute.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Bulgarian passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Togo. Togo does not enforce a 6-month validity rule, but airlines may ask for it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Lomé–Tokoin Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without one, you may be denied boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Togo. Officers rarely check it, but having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to about 200,000 CFA francs (~$330 USD) for a short stay. Immigration rarely asks, but budget airlines may request proof before boarding.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate is mandatory
You will be asked for proof of yellow fever vaccination at immigration in Lomé. No certificate = possible denial of entry or a fine. Get the shot at least 10 days before you fly.
Cash is king in Togo
ATMs are scarce outside Lomé. Bring enough CFA francs (XOF) for your stay. Euros and US dollars can be exchanged at banks and some hotels, but rates are better if you bring euros.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around 30,000 XOF, roughly €45) by card. Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive a PDF approval by email.
2
Print your eVisa approval
Print the PDF approval letter and keep a digital copy on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'eVisa' or 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Expect a short wait — 15–30 minutes is typical.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check (usually just a quick scan). Then you're free to exit the arrivals hall.
