Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Trinidad and Tobago
Your Bulgarian passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay. Trinidad and Tobago does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule, but airlines may ask for at least 3 months beyond your departure date.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Trinidad and Tobago
Immigration officers at Piarco International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card ready. Immigration may ask how you plan to cover expenses — a few hundred USD in cash or a card statement works fine.Recommended
Visa-free, not visa-on-arrival
You don't need to apply for anything before you travel. Just show up with your passport and a return ticket. No fees, no forms, no embassy visits.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before you board. If your passport expires within 6 months of your entry date, you'll be turned away at check-in. Renew early.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Piarco International Airport (POS)
Most visitors fly into Piarco, the main airport near Port of Spain. After deplaning, follow signs to 'Immigration' for non-citizens.
2
Join the non-citizen queue
There are separate lines for citizens and non-citizens. Join the non-citizen line. Wait times vary — 15 to 45 minutes depending on flight arrivals.
3
Present your documents
Hand over your passport and completed immigration card (you'll get it on the plane or at the counter). The officer may ask about your return ticket and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly.
4
Get stamped in
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before walking away — make sure the dates are correct.
5
Collect luggage and clear customs
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green 'nothing to declare' channel.
