Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Bulgarian passport needs to be valid only for the period you plan to stay in Kosovo. Airlines at Sofia may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kosovo
Border officers at Pristina Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address is enough. Keep it on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers rarely ask, but have a bank statement or cash equivalent to €50 per day handy. ATMs are widely available in Pristina.Recommended
Passport validity counts from arrival
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Kosovo, not from the day you leave. If it expires sooner, you'll be turned away.
Overstaying has consequences
Staying longer than 90 days without a permit can result in fines and a ban from re-entering Kosovo. Don't risk it — leave before your 90 days are up or apply for an extension in advance.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you travel, check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book a return or onward ticket. Save a screenshot of your flight booking and first night's accommodation on your phone.
2
Arrive at Pristina International Airport
At Pristina Airport (PRN), follow signs to 'All Passports' or 'Non-EU' passport control. The queue is usually short. Hand over your passport and be ready to show your return ticket if asked. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and where you're staying. Answer briefly and clearly.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. Check the stamp before leaving the counter — it should show the date. You're allowed to stay up to 90 days from that stamp.
