What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Albanian eVisa website, create an account, fill in the application form, upload your passport scan and a recent photo, and pay the fee. Processing typically takes 3–5 business days, but apply at least 2 weeks before your trip to be safe.
2
Receive your eVisa by email
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa document. Print a copy and also save it on your phone — you'll need to show it at the airport check-in and at Albanian border control.
3
Arrive at Tirana International Airport (TIA)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Have your passport, eVisa, and return ticket ready. The officer will scan your passport, stamp it, and let you through. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes if you're prepared.
4
Enter Albania
Once stamped, collect your luggage and exit. There are no additional health or customs declarations required for most travelers. You're free to start your trip.

Frequently asked questions

Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but it can take longer during peak season. Apply at least 2 weeks before your departure to avoid stress. The fee is around €30–40, paid online.
No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave before the visa expires. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to leave and re-enter, but that's not guaranteed — better to plan your trip within the allowed period.
If you're staying in the international transit area and not passing through passport control, you don't need a visa. But if you leave the airport, you'll need the eVisa. Check with your airline if you're unsure.
You'll be denied entry and sent back on the next flight. There's no visa-on-arrival for Bahraini passport holders. Don't risk it — get the eVisa before you fly.
Yes, the eVisa is valid for all entry points — air, land, and sea. Just show it at the border crossing along with your passport.
Not officially, but it's strongly recommended. If you have a medical emergency, Albanian hospitals may require upfront payment. A basic travel insurance policy is cheap and covers this.
You'll receive an email explaining the reason. You can reapply with corrected information, but the fee is non-refundable. Double-check all details before submitting to avoid mistakes.
