The visa-free stay is exactly 30 days and cannot be extended. Overstaying, even by a day, can lead to fines and future entry problems. Mark your departure date clearly.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport in Azerbaijan
You'll land at Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku or another international airport. Follow the signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Immigration'.
2
Join the foreign passport queue
Look for the line marked 'Foreign Passports' or 'All Passports'. Bahraini passport holders use this queue, not the citizens' line.
3
Present your passport and any requested documents
Hand over your passport. If asked, show your return ticket or proof of accommodation. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in.
4
Collect your belongings and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim and then customs. You're free to enter Azerbaijan for up to 30 days.

Frequently asked questions

No, Bahraini passport holders can enter Azerbaijan without a visa for up to 30 days. This applies to tourism and short business visits. Just make sure your passport is valid for 6 months from arrival.
No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Azerbaijan before the 30 days are up. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to leave and re-enter, but that's not guaranteed to reset the clock – best to plan your trip within 30 days.
Overstaying can result in fines, detention, or a ban from re-entering Azerbaijan. The fine is typically around 300–500 AZN (approximately $175–$300), but it's not worth the hassle. Keep track of your entry date and leave on time.
No, Bahraini citizens are not required to register with local authorities during their stay. This is already handled by the hotel or host if needed, but for Bahraini passport holders, no separate registration is required.
Yes, the visa-free entry applies to all border crossings, including land borders. You'll go through passport control at the border checkpoint. The same 30-day limit applies, and your passport must meet the validity requirements.
You could be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry by Azerbaijani immigration. It's a strict requirement. Renew your passport before traveling.
Travel insurance is not a formal visa requirement for Bahraini citizens, but it's strongly recommended. Medical care can be expensive, and insurance gives you peace of mind.
