Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond entry
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your planned entry date into DR Congo. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from DR Congo
Immigration officers at N'djili Airport in Kinshasa routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone — they will not let you through without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in DR Congo. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having a booking confirmation avoids delays.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination certificate
Mandatory for entry
DR Congo requires a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate for all arriving passengers. You will be asked to show it at immigration — without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot.Required
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory
You must show proof of yellow fever vaccination (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport — which is not always available.
Keep your entry stamp safe
When you leave DR Congo, immigration will check your entry stamp. If it's missing or damaged, you could face delays or fines. Take a photo of it as a backup.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visa.gouv.cd and fill out the application. Upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Processing typically takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the approved eVisa by email.
2
Print or save the eVisa approval
Print a paper copy of the eVisa approval email and also save a PDF on your phone. Immigration at Kinshasa N'djili Airport (FIH) and Lubumbashi Airport (FBM) will ask to see it before they stamp you in.
3
Prepare documents for immigration
At the airport, have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. Hand them over together. The officer may ask a few questions about your trip — answer clearly and briefly.
4
Pass through passport control
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Present your documents. The officer will stamp your passport and you're in. Keep the entry stamp safe — you'll need it when you leave.
