Bahraini passport holders need a visa to enter Slovakia in 2026. You must apply for a Schengen visa at the Slovak embassy or consulate before you travel, as there is no visa-on-arrival or e-visa option for tourism or business.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Schengen visa application
Apply at the Slovak embassy or visa application centre
You need a Schengen visa before travelling to Slovakia. Apply at the Slovak embassy or a designated visa application centre in your country of residence. Processing takes at least 15 calendar days — submit your application no later than 6 months and no earlier than 15 days before your trip.Apply for Schengen visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area
Your passport needs at least two blank pages for entry stamps. The 3-month validity rule applies to the entire Schengen zone — not just Slovakia. Airlines check this at check-in, so verify your passport expiry before booking.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Border officers at Bratislava airport and land crossings ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to a non-Schengen country. A bus or train ticket to another Schengen country does not count — it must leave the Schengen zone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Immigration may ask for hotel bookings, a rental agreement, or a letter of invitation from a host. Keep a printed copy or have it accessible on your phone. If staying with friends, they need to register your stay with the local Foreign Police within 3 working days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds for your stay — roughly €56 per day of your trip. Bank statements, traveller's cheques, or a credit card with a recent statement work. Cash is not required, but having a card with a visible limit helps.Recommended
Apply well in advance
Visa processing can take up to 45 days during peak season. Don't wait until the last minute — apply at least a month before your planned travel date.
Schengen visa rules apply
With a Slovak visa, you can visit all 27 Schengen countries. But your main destination must be Slovakia, or you must enter through Slovakia first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a Schengen visa at the Slovak embassy
Submit your application at the Embassy of Slovakia in Manama or the visa application centre (VFS Global). You'll need to book an appointment, fill out the Schengen visa form, and provide your documents in person.
2
Attend the visa interview
At your appointment, submit your passport, photos, travel insurance, flight and hotel bookings, bank statements, and the visa fee. You may be asked about your travel plans. Biometrics (fingerprints) are taken if you haven't given them in the last 5 years.
3
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes about 15 calendar days. It can take up to 45 days if more checks are needed. Track your application online if available.
4
Collect your passport
Once approved, collect your passport with the visa sticker. Check that the dates and name are correct before leaving the embassy.
5
Arrive in Slovakia
At Bratislava Airport or any Schengen entry point, present your passport with the visa. You may be asked for your return ticket and accommodation. The border officer will stamp your passport with the entry date.
