Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Togo. Apply at evisa.gouv.tg at least 3 business days before departure. The eVisa is valid for 15 days from arrival and costs around 30,000 CFA francs (~$50 USD). Print the approval email and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the duration of your stay in Togo. Togo does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule, but airlines may ask for it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Lomé–Tokoin Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital booking confirmation ready. If you're overlanding to a neighboring country, a bus ticket or itinerary works too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration rarely asks for it, but having it ready avoids delays. If staying with friends, a simple signed letter with their address and phone number is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card for your stay
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself. Have at least $200–$300 USD in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. ATMs in Lomé work but can be unreliable outside the capital.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no exceptions
You cannot board your flight to Togo without an approved eVisa. There is no visa-on-arrival for Bahraini citizens. Apply at least a week before departure.
Yellow fever vaccine recommended
Even if you're not arriving from an endemic country, having the yellow fever vaccine certificate can speed up entry. It's valid for life and costs around $20–$50 at most travel clinics.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50–$100 depending on processing speed). You'll receive the approval by email within a few days.
2
Print or save the eVisa approval
Once approved, print a copy and also save the PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Lomé.
3
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Hand over your passport and eVisa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation booking. Answer clearly. The process usually takes 10–15 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There are no additional health checks unless you're arriving from a yellow fever endemic area (you'll need the yellow fever vaccine certificate).

Frequently asked questions

Standard processing takes 3–5 business days. There is also an express option (24–48 hours) that costs more — around $100–$150. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe.
No. Bahraini passport holders must have an approved eVisa before boarding. There is no visa-on-arrival option.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your photo is poor, passport scan is blurry, or you have a criminal record. You can reapply with corrected documents. Contact the Togolese embassy in your region for help.
Yes, if you are arriving from a country with yellow fever. Bahrain is not endemic, but if you transit through an endemic country (e.g., Nigeria, Ghana), you'll need the vaccine certificate. It's safer to get the vaccine anyway — it's valid for life.
No. The eVisa is not extendable. You must leave before it expires. If you need to stay longer, you'll have to apply for a different visa type before your current one expires.
The currency is the West African CFA franc (XOF). Credit cards are accepted at major hotels and some restaurants in Lomé, but cash is king everywhere else. Bring euros or US dollars to exchange — there are ATMs in Lomé but they can be unreliable.
Togo is generally safe for tourists, especially in Lomé and popular areas. Petty crime like pickpocketing happens in crowded markets. Avoid walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas. Register with your embassy before you go.
