What happens at the border

1
Arrive at a Schengen border checkpoint
You'll enter Lithuania via Vilnius Airport (VNO), Kaunas Airport (KUN), or Palanga Airport (PLQ). Land borders from Poland, Latvia, or Belarus are also possible. Join the 'All Passports' queue.
2
Present your passport and supporting documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and proof of accommodation. Answer clearly: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the entry date. This stamp records your 90-day allowance. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it for exit checks.
4
Collect luggage and proceed
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're now in Lithuania.

If you stay longer than 90 days (which requires a visa), you must register with the Migration Department within 30 days. For visa-free stays under 90 days, no registration is needed.
Overstaying can result in a fine (typically €50–€200), a ban from re-entering the Schengen area for up to 5 years, and deportation. Border officers track your days using entry/exit stamps and the Schengen Information System.
No. The visa-free regime is for tourism, business meetings, and family visits only. Remote work for a foreign employer is technically not allowed. If you plan to work, you need a work visa or a digital nomad visa (Lithuania offers one for remote workers).
No. If you're flying through a Lithuanian airport to a non-Schengen destination, you don't need a transit visa. You stay in the international transit area. If you need to enter Lithuania (e.g., to switch airports), you need visa-free entry or a visa.
Your passport (original, not a copy) is the only mandatory document. Keep a digital copy of your passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking on your phone. Police can ask for ID, but they rarely do for tourists.
No. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it expires in 5 months, you'll be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at the border. Renew your passport first.
