What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Changi Airport or Woodlands Checkpoint
Most travellers fly into Changi Airport (SIN). If coming from Malaysia by land, you'll enter via Woodlands or Tuas checkpoint. Immigration counters are clearly marked for foreign passport holders.
2
Queue at the foreign passport counter
Join the line for 'All Passports' or 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport and boarding pass (or onward ticket) ready. The officer will scan your passport, take a photo, and stamp you in.
3
Answer the immigration officer's questions
You'll likely be asked: 'How long are you staying?' and 'Where are you staying?' Answer clearly. If you have a return ticket, mention it. Keep it simple.
4
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel. Customs is usually green channel (nothing to declare) unless you have restricted items like alcohol over limits or tobacco.

If you're transiting and not leaving the airport, you generally don't need a visa. But if you plan to enter Singapore (even for a few hours), the visa-free rules apply — 30 days max.
