Brazilian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Iraq. The online application is straightforward, but you must apply before you travel — there is no visa on arrival for Brazilians as of 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Iraq. Apply at the official eVisa portal at least a few days before your trip. The application asks for passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo — approval usually takes 1–3 business days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Brazilian passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Iraq. No specific minimum validity beyond that is required by Iraqi immigration, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Baghdad and Erbil airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready. Without one, you may be denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Iraq. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving on a tourist eVisa. A simple booking confirmation works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to show you have enough money for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it's better to have evidence of at least $500–$1,000 USD available.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival
Brazilian passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport. You must have an approved eVisa before boarding your flight to Iraq. Airlines will check this at check-in.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Iraq, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Iraqi eVisa website (evisa.iq), fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print at least one copy and also save it on your phone. Airlines may check it before you board.
3
Arrive at Baghdad International Airport (BGW)
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in — no additional payment at the counter.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the immigration stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There are no further visa checks inside the terminal.
