Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Jamaica. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Jamaican immigration, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Jamaica
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready — they will check the date matches your intended stay.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Jamaica. Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to demonstrate you have enough money for your trip. There's no fixed minimum amount, but officers expect to see coverage for accommodation, food, and incidentals.Recommended
6-month passport validity is strictly enforced
Jamaican immigration will deny entry if your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date. Check your passport now — if it's close, renew before booking flights.
No visa, but still need proof of onward travel
Even though you don't need a visa, immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a screenshot or printout ready.

What happens at the border

Present documents to officer
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying, and your return flight date. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
